Kansas City Recovery (KCR) was founded by Angela Pugh, who after her own journey with alcoholism, became sober and dedicated her life to helping others seek recovery. Pugh now has many credentials in substance use recovery and education in addiction counseling, social work, and psychology.
KCR is a home where housemates support one another while developing life skills and living their lives in recovery. Members of the home are required to follow house rules, attend weekly group meetings, and contribute to household chores. Members are expected to maintain full-time employment, student status, or intensive outpatient program enrollment while living in the home. To be eligible for the program, an individual must be an adult male over 18 years old, must be currently clean and sober for a minimum of 30 days, and agree to random urine and/or breath testing. 21-28 days of being sober will be considered if an individual is coming directly from another treatment program.
KCR also offers intervention and recovery coach services. An intervention typically takes 4-7 days to successfully plan and complete. Cost ranges from $3000-$6000 and is not covered by insurance. For recovery coaching, people typically start with once a week sessions for the first 4-6 weeks and then move to twice monthly sessions for maintenance and accountability. Each session lasts 60-75 minutes. It should be noted that a recovery coach is not an AA sponsor and does not work the 12-Steps with individuals.
