About Carlsbad LifeHouse: Programs, Staff & Mission

Carlsbad LifeHouse offers a complete continuum of care for adults with substance use, from detox to sober living and aftercare programs. Located Near the Pecos River with convenient access to Highway 285 and the Red bus line, LifeHouse offers treatment for clients throughout the Carlsbad area. LifeHouse accepts a wide range of private insurance, Medicaid, and offers a sliding fee scale.
Carlsbad LifeHouse offers medically-assisted detox with peer-led individual and group meetings, as well as monitoring by medical professionals. Clients in the residential treatment programs take part in individual and group counseling, off-site AA and NA meetings, recreation, and leisure activities like walks by the river. Mothers with young children can participate in Avalon, a specialized program which provides childcare and helps mothers retain custody of their children.
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) helps clients maintain outside responsibilities while receiving substance use treatment, particularly for individuals who may not require a higher level of care. The program meets in person or via telehealth 9 hours per week for 16 weeks. Clients can also engage in individual and group therapy, including evening groups for anger management, grief, and substance use. LifeHouse further offers support for family members and peer-led classes that take place in the Carlsbad detention center.
Carlsbad LifeHouse offers several sober living homes for men, women, and women with children. These homes are each overseen by a house manager who also functions as a peer support worker. In addition to working and developing life skills, clients engage in individual and group peer support meetings. Sober living is not covered by insurance and requires a 6-month commitment. The cost is about $170 per week. Clients in the LifeHouse aftercare program retain access to their peer support worker to help maintain long-term recovery.
