Nestled beside the gorgeous Powell River on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, Miklat Recovery Society provides residential drug and alcohol therapy. Miklat means "refuge," and the goal of our program is to provide men with a safe haven from the storms of addiction. It is also a place where men who are recovering from the ravages of a drug use disorder may find encouragement, inspiration, and useful resources. Clients can enjoy an intimate 10-bed home, with access to nature and fishing and hiking trips on weekends. Clients at Miklat Recovery Society will start to establish and maintain a daily routine that includes personal hygiene, household duties, prayers, quick readings, group therapy, moderate exercise, cooking and eating three balanced, healthy meals per day, learning about the nature of addiction, attending 12 Step meetings, and exploring their lives. Miklat Recovery Society offers group and individual therapy, CBT, EMDR, music therapy, and more. Their program also incorporates 12 Step meetings and introduction to spiritual principles, SMART Recovery meetings, peer-based therapeutic groups, relapse prevention, anger management, and various subjects introduced by qualified counsellors. In order to help clients recover in mind, body, and spirit from the destruction of alcoholism and drug addiction, Miklat provides a caring, secure, and comfortable home base. It also serves as a place where people can rediscover themselves as they embark on the adventure of living a life filled with purpose and hope. Miklat Recovery accepts insurance and strives to keep non-insured costs to a minimum. The program costs $3,000 monthly and $12,000 for the entire 90-day primary care stay. For those desiring addiction care after the program, they also provide secondary care in a separate location in a comfortable, 8-bedroom home.
