Set in Upper Marlboro, Serenity Outpatient Services (SOS) serves adults with alcohol or drug addiction. SOS' services are a day/partial hospitalization program (PHP) that runs 20 to 36 hours weekly, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that runs 9 to 20 hours weekly, and flexible outpatient counseling. Founded by an individual in recovery, SOS is a family-run Christian treatment facility that operates on the belief that everyone has inherent value and is capable of recovery. They use steps 1 and 2 of the 12 Steps of Recovery to guide their treatment philosophy. Their environment is compassionate and non-judgmental. SOS distinguishes itself with support services that extend beyond traditional therapy. They support individuals, couples, and families. Additionally, they provide clients with case management services, assistance with Medicaid applications, DUI support, assistance with child protection hearings, referrals for workforce development, entitlement support, mental health and psychiatric referrals, housing assistance, and corporate or business owner support services. SOS maintains a family-oriented atmosphere with small group sizes, ensuring personalized attention for each individual. SOS operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an open-door policy. They can also meet with clients on Tuesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays by appointment. Clients can attend therapy in person or online.
