About Wayside House: Programs, Staff & Mission

Located 5 blocks from the intercoastal waterway and a mile walk from Delray Public Beach, Wayside House offers holistic residential and outpatient treatment for women with substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns in a beautiful coastal setting. With lush greenery, a peaceful gazebo, and comfortable lounge areas, Wayside House offers a calm environment for recovery. Wayside House accepts pregnant women and encourages family, including children, to visit on Saturdays and has many toys available.
Wayside House takes a 12-Step approach, connecting women to 12-Step groups in the community. Clients also participate in trauma-informed individual and group therapy. Parenting, nutrition education, and other life skills also form an important element of treatment. Women with eating disorders receive support for their unique needs. Clients engage in yoga, meditation, equine therapy, art therapy, and horticulture therapy as part of a holistic approach .
Wayside House’s 28-bed residential program lasts 90 days and consists of 2 phases. The first phase consists of more highly structured treatment and reflection time, while the second phase gives more independence and the chance to pursue education and vocational opportunities. Clients needing more flexibility and the option to live at home can participate in day treatment, which meets 5 days per week, 6 hours per day. An intensive outpatient program meets 3 days per week for 3 weeks and is available as a step down from higher levels of care. Less structured outpatient treatment offers weekly individual and group therapy sessions. Wayside House further offers aftercare covering relapse prevention and reintegration into family and the workforce. Their thriving alumnae program provides continuing support to graduates of their programs.
