Parenting, nutrition education, and other life skills also form an important element of treatment. Women with eating disorders receive support for their unique needs. Clients engage in yoga, meditation, equine therapy, art therapy, and horticulture therapy as part of a holistic approach .
Wayside House’s 28-bed residential program lasts 90 days and consists of 2 phases. The first phase consists of more highly structured treatment and reflection time, while the second phase gives more independence and the chance to pursue education and vocational opportunities. Clients needing more flexibility and the option to live at home can participate in day treatment, which meets 5 days per week, 6 hours per day. An intensive outpatient program meets 3 days per week for 3 weeks and is available as a step down from higher levels of care. Less structured outpatient treatment offers weekly individual and group therapy sessions. Wayside House further offers aftercare covering relapse prevention and reintegration into family and the workforce.
