Located just off Congress Street near I-295 and minutes from downtown Portland, Milestone Recovery’s Andover Road facility offers Maine’s only nonprofit medical detox program and a newly added outpatient program. These services support adults of any gender through the early stages of recovery from alcohol, opioids, and other substances—regardless of insurance or ability to pay. Care begins with a 3-7 day medically monitored detox, supported by 24-hour nursing and a supervising physician to ensure safety and comfort. Clients also participate in individual and group counseling, working with licensed substance use professionals and peer navigators to prepare for their next steps in care. Treatment is trauma-informed and focused on long-term recovery. The new 30-bed facility features double-occupancy rooms, expanded nursing space, and dedicated therapy areas. Co-located outpatient services allow for a seamless transition from detox to continued support. The program emphasizes dignity, compassion, and equity while helping individuals move toward health, stability, and connection.
