Located in the coastal suburb of Portland, Maine, Foundation House provides sober living support for men through their experiential activities, various therapies, and job support for men. The center offers a fully licensed intensive outpatient program and sober living housing in three fully furnished residences. Foundation House provides evidence-based treatment including 12 Step meetings, individual and group therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, and DBT. Additionally, they treat clients using holistic methods such as health lessons, cooking lessons, yoga, music production, float spa services, and woodworking. At their clinical campus and offsite, men can participate in an extensive variety of experiential activities. These include wilderness adventure, hiking, biking, rock climbing, personal training, various sports leagues, and skiing to name a few. The center also owns a 120-acre working, therapeutic ranch, where men can enjoy hiking, pool access, and winter sports. Foundation House also organizes an annual international trip, which allows clients to explore a different culture while assisting with volunteer work. Foundation House also provides academic and vocational counseling, assisting clients with job searching, academic development, and building a resume. A family program is also available for the families of clients and includes updates from a licensed clinical psychologist, family support meetings, and family workshops on-site. Foundation House provides mainly treats drug and alcohol recovery, co-occurring disorders, sex addiction, and trauma/PTSD. They also help clients develop relational skills and overcome ‘failure to launch’. The center offers monthly self-pay, sliding scale, and scholarships for their Joint Commission accredited program.
