Licensed practitioners use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and more. Uniquely, they offer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Clients receive a weekly individual session with a psychiatric provider and twice weekly individual therapy sessions with a counselor. AMFM incorporates mindfulness practices throughout their program to enhance the evidence-based treatments effectiveness. Clients engage in life skills training and psychoeducation. Outside of Washington D.C., AMFM’s residential center offers a serene, home-like environment. The facility boasts private and semi-private rooms, cozy living areas, specialized therapeutic spaces, and a picturesque backyard complete with a relaxing porch. Embracing a holistic approach to recovery, the center provides a diverse array of therapeutic modalities, including somatic experiencing, equine therapy, creative writing, pet therapy, psychodrama, art therapy, yoga, and expressive arts therapy. Following residential care, AMFM extends comprehensive aftercare services, including group therapy, family follow-up counseling, professional re-entry support, and engaging alumni events, ensuring a supportive continuum of care.
