This center treats substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your treatment plan addresses each condition at once with personalized, compassionate care for comprehensive healing.

The Way Back offers supportive residential treatment for adult men recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. The 24-bed facility partners with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services and provides a structured, substance-free environment where men can work toward long-term stability through individualized care and peer support. The Way Back provides a holistic and evidence-based approach to recovery, focusing on personal growth and stability. Clients take part in clinical and educational groups, mindfulness meditation, yoga, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention. They also receive individual therapy and treatment planning. With support from counselors and 12-Step, self-management and recovery training (SMART), and non-12 Step methods, clients learn to manage emotions, build healthy habits, and find new purpose. They guide each person through their journey, fostering a sense of community and accountability that helps residents maintain progress. Residents at The Way Back live in a shared, home-like setting with access to communal spaces and supportive peer relationships. The facility offers shared rooms and bathrooms, nutritious meals, and comfortable indoor and outdoor areas for relaxation and group activities. Located in central San Diego, the center offers easy access and coordinates transportation for eligible clients, making recovery more attainable for those in need.
